Share the short check list below with your team, to help them save time on-site, avoid common frustrations and improve elevator ride quality.
1. Roller wheel positioning
- Face roller wheel should be centered on face of guide rail
- Adjust roller guide left or right to center face roller wheel
2. Roller guide and rail alignment
- Roller guide must be aligned perpendicular to guide rail
- Adjust roller guide until the alignment is correct
3. Guide base position
- Position guide base so entire side roller wheel will engage with guide rail once preload is applied
- Ensure side roller wheels and throat of base do not interfere with guide rail clips
- Securely tighten down the guide before applying roller wheel preloads
4. Roller wheel preload (25 – 50 lbf)
- Preload should be between 25 – 50 lbf on side and face roller wheels
- It should be possible to skid roller wheels on guide rail by hand with moderate effort
- Adjust face arm roller wheels on roller guides on both sides of elevator before adjusting side arm roller wheels
Face roller wheel preload
- Adjust preload force on guide rail using the face arm adjustment nut
- Ensure face arm forces on each guide are equal. Adjust as necessary
Side roller wheel preload
- Adjust preload force on guide rail using the side arm adjustment nut
- Ensure side arm roller wheels are still tracking on guide rail
5. Elevator float
- Turn adjustable stop nut to increase or decrease the gap between arm and rubber surface of adjustable stop nut to achieve desired float
- Recommended float gap 1/16” to 1/8”
- Lock adjustable stop nut in place by tightening lock nut
Note:
Roller guide installation order
- Install and adjust guides in correct order for optimum results
- Secure all 4 roller guides to car frame

- Top roller guides
- First adjust face roller wheel on guide on each side of elevator
- Next adjust side roller wheels on guide on each side of elevator
- Finally set maximum float on face and side arms on both roller guides
- Bottom roller guides
